It took me over a decade to figure it out.
From my teens until the age of 25, I struggled with acne. I tried everything — drugstore cleansers, expensive serums, prescription treatments, and more skincare trends than I can count. Some things helped a little, most didn’t help at all. It was frustrating, exhausting, and at times, really disheartening.
I kept wondering: Why isn’t this working?
I was doing everything right — cleansing properly, moisturizing, even watching my diet. But my skin wasn’t healing. And then, almost by accident, I stumbled upon something so obvious, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it sooner.
The towel.
The thing I used every single day — to dry my freshly cleansed face — was the one thing I had never questioned. But towels harbor bacteria, especially when they stay damp. They’re rough, reused, and rarely clean. And for sensitive, acne-prone skin, that’s a recipe for constant irritation.
Once I stopped using regular towels and replaced them with clean, single-use alternatives, everything changed. My skin finally had the chance to breathe, recover, and calm down. I realized: this small change made the biggest difference.
